According to Jacqueline Ng, Founder of the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, Big Bad Wolf Books is not just a Book Sale. It is an organization that advocates reading and English literacy. Our mission is to change the world one book at a time. Filipinos are avid readers, they love books, they understand the value and power of books however there’s a lot of people out there who don’t have access to books due to the pricing. For someone who has never had a book, that could be the one thing that could change his life and it is our role to provide access to affordable books. A book could inspire and empower readers with knowledge.

The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale has always been a firm believer that everyone should have access to books and learn, regardless of their status. The book Sale’s Corporate Social Responsibility arm — the Red Readerhood will be partnering with its partner organization, Gawad Kalinga (GK) to furnish GK partner communities, public schools and libraries with books. THe Book Sale has pledged to donate 500 books and shoppers can also join the initiative by donating books for Big Bad Wolf Book Sale’s Red Readerhood corner during the Sale.

Toby Florendo, Cebu Provincial Head of Gawad Kalinga stated that Gawad Kalinga believes that everybody has the right to learn and books should not be a luxury item but a necessity as it provides knowledge. The book donated through the Red Readerhood corner has allowed Gawad Kalinga communities access to quality brand new English books. We are delighted to be the partner organization to the Book Sale because even though our modalities are different, our goal is the same; it is to unleash the potential of every individual. We believe that books are one of the strongest tools for this to happen and the books collected from the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Cebu will be distributed to Barangay reading centers.
