4 Must-follow Staycation Tips for 2021

If you haven’t heard the news, staycations are pretty hot right now. Sure, they might not be in the literal sense, but they are right up there for obvious reasons from a popularity point of view.

In fact, even if we delve back through the history books to pre-2020, the trends in relation to this form of a holiday have been impressive. A staycation was once regarded as a boring replacement for a holiday, yet it’s become utterly fashionable over the last few years.

However, there are certain tips that you should abide by before planning your perfect 2021 staycation. Through today’s guide, we’ll mull over four of our favourites.

4 Must-follow Staycation Tips for 2021

It’s all about the location

We’re going to kick things off with one of the biggest cliches going; it’s all about the location.

Of course, when it comes to staying in your own country, some destinations are more favourable than others. Look online, and you’ll find a great list over here that goes into some specifics, but we also have a few general tips.

For example, ask yourself what the purpose of your staycation is. Is it to wind down and relax? If it is, you’ll be wanting to avoid any place with a whole host of tourist traps and Trip Advisor destinations.

Or, is it a staycation for the kids? In this case, the recommended destinations might on the agenda; you need anything and everything you can find for the little ones, rain or shine.

Be Resort

You still have to negotiate the travel

Sure, you might not be jumping on a plane, but that doesn’t mean to say that you don’t have any travel considerations.

Particularly if you have arranged a trip for the springtime school holidays, there’s every chance that others have the same idea as you. What does this mean? Everyone will be on the road as well, and the traffic is going to be chaotic.

Rather than losing a day in travel, make sure you factor in rush hour and all such other considerations.

Don’t fall into the tech trap

You might not be across foreign waters, but that doesn’t mean to say that you can remain glued to your phone. While roaming fees might be out of the question, consider implementing some sort of mobile phone ban during your staycation. We’re by no means suggesting that you should leave the thing at home, but there’s no harm in turning off those pesky work emails, is there?

Remember, mobile phone addiction is a real thing – and it can wreak havoc with your holiday.

Update your itinerary for 2021

As we all know, the previous year has not been kind to the world or many of the attractions that graced it. In other words, some haven’t survived over the last few months, and this needs to be factored into your itinerary. Or, even if some attractions haven’t closed their doors for good, they may be operating on reduced hours.

Make sure your itinerary is completely up to date. The last thing you need is to be trying to put together a new one halfway through your staycation.
