Following the success of Conquer Cebu, the Huawei Sugbo team made another milestone with Conquer Cebu 2.0. Such event, which was dubbed as Huawei Invades Parkmall, is a food crawl and mobile food photography contest and workshop. It is in collaboration with Parkmall, together with its dynamic tenants, Chicken Deli, Chika-an, Choobi Choobi, Da Vinci’s, Orange Karenderia, Hainanese Delights, Mooon Café, Tsiboom, and Dessert Factory.

The event was also graced by 2 of Cebu’s finest, Jon Mercado and Mimi Gonzales. Jon is a popular Instagrammer and the talented mind behind the vlog Jalastsupper. Jon shared his tips and insights on How to Step Up Your Mobile Food Photography Game. On the other hand, expert food blogger Mimi Gonzales of Chasing Bleu shared tips and advice on How to Make Money from Food Photography.

After getting their dose of words of advice from our speakers, the participants proceeded with the event proper. Our energetic host Dannea then gave a very exciting announcement to the groups about the activity, that each group will be able to munch on the food of the last restaurant they ended. As the activity commences, the groups then proceeded to their designated clusters of restaurants and started taking photos of the lovely and gorgeous-looking dishes prepared by each participating Parkmall outlet.

After getting through with their assigned restaurants and after devouring the prepared dishes. Participants were asked to submit their best photos of each of the restaurant they visited. We are very surprised and amazed to see their submissions. Damn! Cant believed that they were taken with a Huawei smartphone.

Clifford Lawas’ photo from Choobi Choobi restaurant emerged as the best photo after thorough deliberation from selected judges. Photos were judged based on the following criteria:

  • Visual Impact – 25%
  • Creativity and Composition – 30%
  • Technical Execution – 25%
  • Social Impact – 20%

The Huawei Invades Parkmall was surely a unique and memorable experience for us. Not only we did something big and successful but the opportunity to exchange thoughts and knowledge with fellow Cebuanos who shares the same passion with us.
