Drift Stories: 2016 Round Up

Last updated on February 7th, 2017 at 12:44 pm

2016 is an exciting year for us at Drift Stories. We have conquered new heights and explored new places. We have met new friends and hooked up to people with a mind like ours. It has been a helluva run yet a fruitful year for us. Made sweeter with achievements and recognitions, 2016 is just a year never to forget.

Here are some of the activities we have organized as well as achievements and recognition we acquired throughout the year.

SouthWalk: Southern Heritage

This is the second time we have this photo trip. The heritage churches in southern Cebu is just enticing. For ages, these churches stood the test of time. These churches are also the living proof of how strong the faith of the Cebuanos are.

SouthWalk: Sumilon

Southwalk Sumilon

The island of Sumilon in the southern part of Cebu is a jewel. If you want to escape reality for a while, this is the ideal place to emancipate. Together with Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort, we are privileged to be given the chance to explore and experience the island. Though its not our first, being there in the island always felt that its our first time. Sumilon Island is such an amazing island.

Won ASUS’ See-nic Philippines Photo Contest

Showcasing the best scenery of the Philippines through photography is one thing I love the most. Though I seldom travel, I always make sure that I will have a handful of good photos of the places I’ve been. Joining ASUS’ See-nic Philippines Photo Contest is a memorable one. Not only that I won the grand prize but I get to see the rest of the Philippines in one gallery.

1st Local Guides – Cebu Photowalk

Local Guides Photowalk

The aim of sharing the world through Google Maps is what Google Local Guides is all about. A local is the best source for information for a particular place. This is Cebu! Photowalk is the first Google Local Guides Photowalk in Cebu and in the Philippines and we are proud to say that we managed to pull the event off successfully.

Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk 2016

WWPW 2016 Mandaue

This is our 3rd time leading a walk for the prestigious annual Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk. With the success of the past 2 photowalks, this year is by far our best one. Not only we snatched new friends but we also managed to grow the number of participants.

With the success of previous #Cementouryo, this year is by far the best and memorable one. Aside from the number of participants, the treat o’ treat, where we hand out goodies to the children residing in the cemeteries made this event a winner.

Finalist at BCBA 2016

Best Cebu Blog Awards 2016

Though our blog is just over a year only, we are very fortunate to be listed and be one of the finalist for the 9th Annual Best Cebu Blog Awards. Being included from a long list of worthy blogs and selected as one of the finalist is such a huge honor already. This recognition sure gives us motivation to continue to provide information that will showcase the best of Cebu.

Yuletide in the Highlands

This activity is a day of learning, adventure and giving. We have explored the highlands of Cebu and learned about the Moncadistas on Sudlon 2. While listening to their fascinating stories, we also conducted a feeding program and giving out school supplies to the Moncadista kids.

2016 is a good run for Drift Stories and everyone has been supportive and generous to us. Before 2016 comes to an end, we would like to thank everyone who made everything for us possible. We are truly grateful for believing and placing confidence in us.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much.
