Considering the diversity of Cebu’s gastro scene, finding a good place to dine and at the same time unwind is really challenging and choosing the ideal place is mind-boggling. Look no further, Brewer’s Kitchen, a newly opened gastropub in Mandaue has opened its doors to the Cebuanos.

Brewer's Kitchen

Brewer’s Kitchen traces its roots in the City of Love, Iloilo City. Owners Gus and Pauline Banusing believed that venturing in Cebu is a big opportunity for them. Ilonggos have loved and patronize them, they are confident that Cebuanos, who are known for their good taste in food and drinks will do the same.

The Place

The setting of the place is great, the interior is catchy too. The black motif and the murals compliments well with the tables and chairs. Though they are located in an arcade, the ambiance is still good.  Al frescoseating is also available here, just in case you prefer with different setting.

The Food

During our visit, Brewer’s Kitchen prepared a lot for us. At first we were all in doubt whether their dishes are good but by the moment we made our first bite, we are all astonished. It’s not what we were expecting, indeed, their dishes are amazing. Below are some of their specialty dishes.

Rack of Skewers – this house specialty is a mix of Thai Pork, Lemongrass Chicken, Veal Sausage and Hungarian Sausage.

Slow Cooked Beef Belly – U.S. Beef Belly is cooked and made tender in the oven for eight hours with herbs and spices and served with red wine reduction in order to create the perfect meal for beef lovers.

Asian Buffalo Chicken Wings – this bestselling appetizer comes with a sweet yet spicy sauce served with blue cheese dip and celery.

Mozzarella Bombs – Italian mozzarella cheese coated in seasoned crumbs and deep fried to golden brown. Served with Pomodoro sauce, our homemade tomato sauce.

Angus Beef Tapa – slices of fatty Angus beef marinated in soy sauce, calamansi and native vinegar.

Salted Egg Hand Cut Fries — freshly cut large potatoes, fried and cooked to perfection then coated with salted egg.

The Drinks

Brewer’s Kitchen serves popular draft beers such as Hoegaarden and Stella Artois. They are the first gastropub in Cebu thats serves draft wine. They have more than 100 imported beers, nine handcrafted fresh beers in draft and almost 40 kinds of single malts and popular liquors from around the world.

The usual soda drinks are readily available here. Teas, juices and shakes are also at hand.

Our Picks

It was quiet a lot of dishes that Brewer’s Kitchen prepared for us and these are among the stand outs.

Salted Egg Hand Cut Fries – the salted egg coating  is really a ringer thus making this dish unique.

Slow-cooked Beef Belly – the tenderness of the beef plus the red wine reduction is a perfect pair.

Beer Can Chicken – as a chicken lover, this is very new to me but it merits my taste. The flavor is just superb.

Rack of Skewers – the Lemongrass Chicken made this dish a winner.
