Blogger Spotlight: Sean Soliven of His Hidden Letters

It’s April and it’s officially summer. It’s another exciting month here at The Blogger Spotlight as we are going to be featuring another set of talented Cebu-based bloggers. To start things off, this blogger is an aspiring songwriter who loves acoustic music.  He wanted to keep his blog hidden until it reach its full potential but it seems his blog has came out of the shell and rockin’ the Cebu blogosphere.

Ladies and gents, let’s get to know more of Sean Soliven, traveler and blogger behind His Hidden Letters

Sean Soliven

TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF AND HOW YOU GOT INTO BLOGGING?

Sean: I’m a person who is more into arts than sports. I prefer to be creative than to compete with people by brute force. I started blogging when I decided to do a writing blog. It is most prose, poetry and writings (something like book excerpts). Back then, I was aspiring to be a book author..

WHERE DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF YOUR BLOG’S NAME?

Sean: I was actually an introvert pillow back then. I’m happy with just blogging beneath the shade of my apartment’s roof. Haha! So basically, hishiddenletters was created because I was initially planning to kept it hidden until I could compile all my works into something worth exposing to the world..

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT BLOGGING?

Sean: I like the idea of how one’s thought can be converted into a written art. I love words. And ever since I started blogging, I was already amazed on how words can be constructed to different formats and create different meanings. That is what actually makes me love it..

WHAT IS THE FOCUS OF YOUR BLOG AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THAT NICHE?

Sean: My beloved blog is now undergoing a surgery. Hahaha! Kidding aside, hishiddenletters transition from being a writing blog to a lifestyle blog. Right now, it is still a vague lifestyle blog. Hopefully though, in a few weeks, it will start to be in shape as I will launch my self-improvement lifestyle VLOGs. It will then focus more on self-improvement lifestyles.

NAME 5 OF YOUR FAVORITE BLOGGERS AND AND WHY

www.rbcages.tumblr.comOne of my inspiration in the poetry world. Her works are so phenomenal, it cripples the heart.

www.theilustrado.netChesca is filipino pharmacist that is now working in Texas and is one of my inspirational friends in tumblr. She is also the founder of Filipinostudyblr (which I’m also a contributor). Filipinostudyblr is basically a group blog that aims to help filipino students with their academic life.

www.israelmekaniko.tumblr.comOne of the wittiest filipino humor blogger that I know. Try to visit his blog and tell me if it didn’t even make you smile. Hahaha!

www.erisgoesto.comEris is probably my oldest blogger friend. We knew each other for like 7 or 8 years already. She does travel and lifestyle blogs. Don’t be deceive by her petite look cause this girl is a fighter. She’s been going to places I never even considered going myself. Haha!

www.zandraart.com I found Alexandra’s blog in tumblr. Zandra is an illustrator and her works are so simple if you compared it to other artist but there is just something in Zandra’s art that I like so much. Her arts are my inspiration in my art sketch world. Hehe!

5 TOOLS YOU USE WITH YOUR BLOGGING

  • Photo Editor (For Display image and in blog photos)
  • Text Editor (I usually do drafts when I’m not blogging in a desktop computer)
  • Event Calendar (To track my schedules)
  • Phone Camera (I mainly use my phone in taking photos)
  • Video Editor (If ever I have video contents)

WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION FOR YOUR BLOG POSTS?

Sean: I’m really very easy to inspire. Haha! I get my inspiration through the events that I joined. But for my upcoming posts, I take it from myself. Since I will be focusing more on self-improvement lifestyle, I will make myself as the guinea pig and be the subject for self-improvement.

BESIDES BLOGGING, WHAT OTHER INTERESTS DO YOU HAVE?

Sean: I draw, it could be sketches or painting. I also like music and I compose songs. I’m also starting to explore the wide world of food and cooking. Hehe!.

WHAT IS BIGGEST CHALLENGE OF BEING A BLOGGER?

Sean: The greatest challenge for a blogger is to be religiously motivated. There are a lot of factors that could affect motivation and it is crucial that you do your blogs when you are at your most motivated state. The real struggle there is when you need to blog but the motivation is low..

WHAT ADVICE CAN YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO JUST STARTED BLOGGING

Sean: Just start it! Don’t worry too much about a lot of things at the moment. The most important thing is to start it. Once you start blogging, you will then start to slowly tidy up things to improve your workspace.

IN THE FUTURE WHERE DO YOU HOPE YOUR BLOG WILL TAKE YOU?

Sean: I want it to be one of the most inspirational blogs that promotes self-improvement to the world.
