Best Reasons to Spend Your Summer in Cebu

Last updated on February 2nd, 2017 at 06:43 am

Cebu is regarded as the Queen City of the South and this charming island province in the Philippines is definitely one of the top summer destinations of the country. Cebu has a lot of fun activities to offer which means that every traveller must plan their vacation ahead of time. Advanced planning and preparation is vital so that every tourist will get the most out of their Cebu experience. Start by reading or researching about Cebu so you can pick the spots that you wish to explore. Researching and planning is very important especially if you are travelling on a tight budget or if you only have a weekend to spare.

Here are a few tips on how you can have the most amazing summer in Cebu:

Beach Please!

Nothing beats spending your holiday hearing the sound of the waves splashing in the shore. Cebu has world class beach destinations plus a few secret spots that are certainly worth the adventure. The island offers first class beach resorts which is literally just a stone’s throw away from the Cebu Mactan International Airport. Visitors can also go on an island hopping tour in the Mactan area where they can spend a day relaxing in the white sand beaches of islands such as Sulpa, Nalusuan, Hilutungan, Caohagan and Pandanon (which is actually already in Bohol). If you have more time to spare then you can visit any of Cebu’s beach towns such as Alcoy, Moalboal or Aloguinsan. Or hop on a boat and check out the wonderful island towns of Bantayan, Malapascua or Camotes in the northern part.

Chasing Waterfalls

As of the latest count, there are 90 stunning waterfalls in Cebu. There are 24 waterfalls in the city (mountain barangays), 15 waterfalls in the northern part and 51 waterfalls in the southern part. If you are up for an adventure, then you can plan out a waterfall trip in the southern part of Cebu where you can check out the famous Kawasan falls which is located in Badian. It is more practical to choose a southern waterfall adventure since most of the waterfalls are situated near each other and there are also package tours which feature the top waterfalls in the area.

History Repeats Itself

Cebu is an island province which is rich in culture and history. Cebu City is regarded as the oldest city of the country and if you want to take a trip down memory lane or brush up on your Philippine History facts, then your first destination should be Magellan’s Cross which is just at the entrance of the Basilica del Sto. Niño. Just a few meters from the Basilica is Fort San Pedro which is the oldest military defense structure in the country. Check out Colon, the oldest street in the Philippines and you can surely experience that old school Cebu feel.

#Food

Who goes on a diet when on vacation? If you are not afraid to gain a few pounds then Cebu can surely be the best place for foodies. Your visit to Cebu will never be complete without a quick food trip to Larsian which is the barbecue capital of the city. If you are up for a gastronomic challenge then try pungko-pungko or tuslob buwa. Just a reminder though, these food choices are not for the prim and proper but trust that there will be indeed a party in your taste buds.

Summer is just around the corner. And Cebu is inviting you to experience that one epic summer.

SEE YOU IN CEBU!

  1. That’s what I’m really proud about Cebu. We have almost everything here despite the size of our island. Di jud ikabaylo ang kanindot sa Cebu, bisag nagsugod na siya ug ka traffic. Haha

  2. Absolutely right! I was thinking of travelling this year but I will be starting here in Cebu first. I mean, why go outside Cebu when I have every reasons to explore my beloved Hometown. Cebu is indeed the best summer destination 🙂 Very well said Herbert

  3. My plan is to explore more on North’s beaches since I’m from the south. And to stay a little longer in the city. Missing pungko pungko. No plans of going outside Cebu yet but probably will just stay. There are still so many places I have yet to visit here.

  4. The beaches, the waterfalls and the mountains! Ahhhh CEBU! I so love you! 🙂 This is the very reason why I would really love to be here. Nothing surpasses the charm of your hometown! 🙂

  5. WOW! Those things mentioned are totally part of the reasons why I really love my hometown. There are just so many things in CEBU that will always capture anyone’s heart. And YesToSUMMER!

  6. Personally, my number one reason why I love Cebu is the accessibility! We can go to the beach and the mountains in less than 1 hour! Isn’t that awesome? ^_^
