Almont Inland Resort: Your Home in Butuan City

Last updated on November 25th, 2018 at 01:20 pm

A highly urbanized city, Butuan is considered to be the gateway to Northern Mindanao with major roads connecting to other key cities, such as Davao and Cagayan de Oro. Aside from being its administrative center, the City of Butuan also serves as the commercial and industrial hotspot for the entire Caraga region.

A city that has seen over 1,695 years of recorded history, Butuan is also known for its colorful history and culture, and is being regarded as one of the oldest cities in Mindanao.

Butuan City

On the other hand, Butuan citizens are best known for being warm and friendly. Having been able to spend my childhood there, I can attest to the Butuanons’ style of hospitality.

My visit to Butuan two weeks ago, however shortlived, was a blast! After seven long years, I have finally set foot on that one place I would always call home. It brings back a sense of nostalgia treading the streets where I used to roam and wander in my youth not too long ago.

The timid and aloof Butuan that I once knew is long gone, while positive change can be seen sprawling everywhere in the city. It is more developed now more than ever with the many new buildings and establishments on the rise. But despite all these newcomers, there is this one oldie but goodie that I have been yearning to visit as a young boy that I finally get to explore up close, and that is the Almont Inland Resort

Like the stars had aligned for me one day when I received an invite from Almont management to spend the weekend there. I grew up wondering about how it looked from the inside, so I thought this would be the most perfect time to finally end my misery. And boy, was I pleased with all my five senses in agreement!

Please indulge me as I break them down for you.

Almont Inland Resort

Taste

Almont Inland Resort has a total of three food outlets — Manay Maling’s Restaurant, the Magallanes Bar, and Joaquin’s Pizza Bar: Gemelli. Whether you’re in for a feast or want it light but hearty, Almont’s always got you covered.

During my visit, the resort had just launched their new set of offerings. I was among the lucky few who had their first taste and feasted on them eventually. Below are the new dishes prepared by no less than Chef Victor Barangan, the resort’s new corporate chef.

Breakfast Cuencos (or rice bowls) offered at their city hotel, alongside the Almont Fried Rice, were also introduced by Chef Vic during the launch. (View the complete list of their new mouthwatering dishes here.)

Now, let us get to know more about Almont Inland Resort’s very own gastronomic hubs:

Manay Maling’s Restaurant

This is the resort’s main restaurant that offers a variety of local and international cuisine. The restaurant also showcases a serene ambiance, while you enjoy the refreshing view of the hotel’s swimming pools and lush greenery.

If you want to have a taste of the resort’s best-sellers, like the Almont Fried Chicken, New Yorker and other classic recipes that have been passed on for generations, a visit at the Manay Maling’s is a must if you happen to be in town. They also have themed dinners that will surely satisfy your palate.

Joaquin’s Pizza Bar: Gemelli

If you’re in for something Italian, come and visit Gemelli. It still remains to be one of the best Italian pizza and sandwich bars in the metro.

Magallanes Bar

Before cocktail bars have become a hype, the Magallanes Bar had already been the go-to place in Butuan City for a drink (or two), with many poisons to choose from including local beers.

Feel

Being the pioneer in the hotel and accommodation industry in Butuan, the Almont chain of hotels and resorts have been known for its world-class hospitality; a brand of hospitality that makes them stand out. You can never find such a reception so warm and unwavering.

Almont Inland Resort

Sight

The beautiful picturesque scenery in Almont Inland Resort is something that Butuanons can boast of. There are spots aplenty that you can claim for a moment of inner calm and reflection. Get that well-deserved me-time as you read your favorite book, or have a cup of Almont’s famous coffee.

Here are three of which I think are the best parts of the resort to spend a moment of tranquility:

Coffee Table and Swing
This spot is near the resort’s orchid garden. It is an open area exposing you to the works of Mother Nature. But for maximum pleasure, try lounging here before sunset. A relaxing ride on the swing as you bid farewell to the sun (or your ex… ha!) just might be what your heart needs.

Almont Inland Resort

Payag
This is a small nipa hut near the man-made lagoon. Whether in the morning or afternoon, this spot is ideal for those who wish to soak in the silence and be detached from the world… even for just a moment.

Almont Inland Resort

Old Bar by the Lagoon
This is the Kitcharao Bar that may not be functional as of this writing, but is one of my favorite spots in the resort. What I love about it is this scenic view of the lagoon teeming with aquatic life.

Touch

If you want to experience comfort, convenience, and style, Almont Inland Resort’s high-caliber accommodation is at par with the best in the industry althroughout the country.

Me and my family were privileged enough to stay at one of the resort’s Junior Suites with two twin beds. I loved how spacious it was and how minimalist the interiors were that really added a touch of elegance. The room also has its own veranda where you can sitback and relax, if ever you don’t feel like taking a dip at the nearby pool.

Sound

Almont Inland Resort has raised the ante with their top-notch facilities and amenities. There is no other place in Butuan where you could do more than just relax. If you wish to hear the sound of genuine fun and laughter from your loved ones, this is the place to be. Below are some of the facilities and amenities that will surely convince you to stay at the resort:

Swimming Pool

The resort has two lagoon-style pools that cater to both kids and adults. Whether you’re with the gang or with your loved ones, everyone will have their own taste of enjoyment.

Sports Bar

Sports aficionados, don’t fret, because the resort’s sports bar has access to indoor games that will surely make your barkada session worth the while. Enjoy a bottle of beer or wine while playing darts, billiards, and table tennis, or while watching your favorite sport live on widescreen television.

Kiddie PlayGround

We all know that our little ones should also have the same amount of fun. Almont Inland Resort’s playground is the answer. It is, by far, the best playground that you can find within the realms of the city.

Function Rooms and Event Venues

The resort has complete event facilities. It has 12 indoor and open-air banquet venues suitable for conventions, seminars and special events. Well-kept meeting rooms are also available that caters to group huddles, meetings or gatherings, whether for a small group or a large congregation.

Zumba Hong Almont

No time to do regular exercise or simply hate it? Joining Zumba Hong Almont, the resort’s in-house fitness program, is probably a good way for you to start. Sweating to the salsa and rumba beats has never been this fun!
